What we do

Vacuuming keeps carpet tidy. Deep cleaning keeps it lasting.

Regular vacuuming picks up loose dirt, but grit works its way down into the pile and wears the fibers from underneath. Traffic lanes turn gray, spots come back after they're blotted, and the whole floor starts to look older than it is.
AIM's carpet and shampoo service is a periodic deep clean. It works on its own or as an add-on to your janitorial services. We pre-treat traffic lanes and spots, shampoo or extract the carpet based on its type and condition, and set the pile so it dries evenly. For hard floors, see our commercial floor care page. This page is only about carpet. We serve buildings across Eastern Massachusetts and Southern New Hampshire from our office in North Andover.

What we're usually cleaning out

Carpet in Massachusetts and New Hampshire buildings takes a beating from the weather, especially at the front door.

Winter salt and ice meltFrom November to April, ice melt is tracked in from sidewalks and parking lots and dries as a white film at entrances. It needs to come out, not just be vacuumed over.
Traffic lanesHallways, reception areas, and paths between desks darken first. Pre-treating those lanes is where most of the visible change comes from.
Spills and spotsCoffee, food, and soil spots in break rooms and conference rooms get treated before the main clean.
Dust and allergensCarpet holds fine dust that vacuuming leaves behind. A deep clean removes much more of it.
How it works

How a carpet cleaning visit works

1

Walkthrough and quote

We look at the carpet type, the square footage, and the problem areas, and agree on a schedule that works for the building.

2

Prep

Vacuum first, move light furniture where needed, and pre-treat traffic lanes and spots.

3

Shampoo or extract

We clean the carpet with the method that fits its fiber and condition, then groom the pile.

4

Dry and reset

Airflow speeds up drying. Furniture goes back once it's safe, and we walk the space with you if you'd like.

Frequently asked questions

How often should office carpet be deep cleaned?
Most offices do well with a deep cleaning once or twice a year, plus extra attention at the entrances after winter. Busy lobbies and hallways may need it every quarter. We'll recommend a schedule based on your foot traffic.
What's the difference between carpet shampooing and hot-water extraction?
Shampooing works a cleaning solution into the carpet to loosen soil. Extraction flushes the carpet and pulls the dirty water back out. The right choice depends on the carpet's fiber, backing, and condition, and we'll tell you which one we plan to use before we start.
Does my carpet warranty require professional cleaning?
Many commercial carpet manufacturers ask for periodic professional cleaning to keep their warranties valid. Check your warranty paperwork. If it names a method or a schedule, share it with us and we'll follow it.
How long until people can walk on it?
Drying time depends on the method, the carpet, and the airflow in the building. We schedule after hours or on weekends whenever we can so the carpet is dry before your team comes back.
Can you remove winter salt stains?
Yes. Salt and ice-melt residue at entrances is one of the most common jobs we see in MA and NH. The sooner it's cleaned out in spring, the less it wears the fibers.
